Movie Nights & Campouts

McKinley offers movie nights at the Joint Use Park throughout the year. Pack a picnic, grab your lawn chairs and blankets, and hang out with friends to take in a movie! Movies typically start at sunset.

Friday, September 20, 2024: Moana

Event starts at 5:00 pm
Movie starts at sunset, approx. 6:30 pm

Please join us at the Joint Use Park on Friday, September 20th for our first Movie Night of the 2024-25 school year! Families are welcome to start gathering at 5 PM and the movie will begin at sunset (around 6:30 PM). Restrooms will be provided.

We will be showing Moana in anticipation of the release of Moana 2 this fall! Bring your own blankets and chairs for optimal outdoor movie viewing comfort.

The 5th Grade Committee will be running a concessions stand, serving up pizza by the slice, drinks, chips, candy and more!

McKinley family movie nights are returning by popular demand! Please grab your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics and join us at the McKinley Joint Use Park for Disney-Pixar’s newest release, Elemental. Restrooms will be provided. The event begins at 5 pm and the movie starts at sunset.

Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental” is an all-new, original feature film set in Element City, where fire-, water-, land- and air residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.

Movie Campout

Friday, May 9 – Saturday, May 10, 2025

The 6th Annual Whole School McKinley Campout & Movie Night is happening at the Joint Use Park on Friday, May 9th – Saturday, May 10th!

Set up will begin at 3:30 pm on Friday, May 9. You can arrive any time before sunset to set up your tent (we suggest the earlier the better). Tent spaces are first-come, first-served. But all the spots are great – it’s a park after all. Don’t worry, we will not run out of space!

We will provide dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday morning. Volunteers will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, and such for dinner. Please bring beverages and any other food your family would like. Class of 2026 will be selling concessions to kick off their 5th grade fundraising for next school year. Breakfast will be Coffee, Pancakes, Bacon, and such.

No one is required to pay anything, and we won’t be tracking who pays or not, but in the interest of being a revenue-neutral event due to Foundation Budget constraints, we need some $ to cover the costs:

Parks & Rec Permit: $308.47

Food (burgers & hot dogs, buns, pancakes, bacon, coffee): $900

Coffee: $285

Important Details

You don’t have to spend the night! Come for the fun, the food, the film- then you can go home. You can even come back in the morning if you’d like! Sleeping on-site is not required.
We will have rented portable restrooms on-site.
This is not an overly-organized event, please bring supplies you and your family need to be comfy. We will provide what’s stated above.
You can bring all your own food; you don’t have to eat what is served. (bring a pizza, dinner from home, etc)
The movie will be Moana 2!
